On 13 August, OPEN FOOTWEAR celebrates its Hamburg premiere at FABRIC – Future Fashion Lab. The open-source research project rethinks footwear from the ground up. Digital manufacturing, local production and openly accessible design take on the wasteful logic of the fashion industry.
OPEN FOOTWEAR was founded by Juraj Šuška, a footwear designer with over 25 years of experience. Sustainability here is not a compromise but a starting point. It is built into how things are made, repaired and worn.
The compact "Clean Hands" workshop focuses on the know-how. It introduces material selection, design, digital tools, gluing and stitching. At FABRIC, you gain insight into the tools, materials and methods behind this shift.
The workshop is open to everyone, whether you already have making experience or are simply curious about how your own shoes come together.
